U.S. stock index futures rose slightly on Sunday evening after a week of technology-driven losses, with market attention turning to a Federal Reserve meeting and major corporate earnings releases. By 19:40 ET, S&P 500 futures stood at 7,669.0 points, up 0.13%. Nasdaq 100 futures increased by 0.1% to 29,151.50 points, while Dow Jones futures gained 0.12% to reach 52,455.0 points.

The modest gain followed two consecutive weeks of declines for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite, driven primarily by sharp drops in technology and artificial intelligence valuations. Investors remain cautious regarding the sustainability of massive infrastructure spending on AI, with growing doubts about whether such investments will generate adequate returns. Concerns also persist over a potential debt crisis among cloud providers, a factor that weighed heavily on tech stocks in recent weeks.

A slate of significant third-quarter earnings reports is scheduled for this week. Verizon Communications Inc and Welltower Inc are set to report on Monday. On Tuesday, the largest reporting companies will include Visa Inc, Boeing Co, and Coca-Cola Co. Tech giants Alphabet Inc and Microsoft Corporation are expected to release results on Wednesday, followed by Amazon.com Inc on Thursday. These megacap tech earnings are expected to offer further insight into the AI trade and investor sentiment regarding margin dilution from AI investments.

The Federal Reserve begins a two-day meeting on Tuesday, with the central bank widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged following a 25 basis point hike to 4.0% in September. Markets are anticipated to be sensitive to any hawkish signals from the Fed, particularly given that U.S. inflation remains well above the central bank's 2% annual target. Expectations for a 25 basis point rate hike in December have risen in recent weeks due to sticky inflation data. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is scheduled to hold a press conference after the decision on Wednesday, which is expected to provide additional cues on the future path of interest rates.
