Privacy Policy

We keep what we collect small and say plainly what happens to it. You can read the board without an account, and the only thing we ask for is the email you choose to give us.

What we collect

NewsSOS is built to be read without an account, and we keep what we collect deliberately small.

Server logs. Like every website, our servers and content network record standard request data: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open, referring links, and timestamps. This is ordinary technical logging used to run and protect the site.

Newsletter email. If you choose to subscribe to breaking or press alerts, we store the email address you give us and the fact that you opted in. You only provide this if you ask for it.

Cookies and analytics. We use a small number of cookies and an analytics tool to understand which bulletins are read and to keep basic site preferences. Where required, analytics works with aggregated, de-identified data.

02

How we use it

We use the information above to deliver the board to your device, send the alerts you asked for, keep the site secure, diagnose problems, and understand which coverage matters to readers so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your newsletter email for anything other than the alerts you subscribed to and occasional service notices.

03

Third parties and our CDN

The site is served through a content delivery network and hosting providers that process requests on our behalf, and we use an email delivery service to send newsletters and an analytics provider to measure readership. These providers handle data only to perform their service for us.

Bulletins and press releases may link to outside sites. Once you leave NewsSOS, the privacy practices of those sites are their own, and this policy no longer applies.

04

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them to remember basic preferences and to power analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the board will still load, though some conveniences may not be remembered between visits.

05

Data retention

We keep server logs only as long as needed to operate and secure the site, then rotate or delete them. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, after which we delete them within a reasonable period.

06

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, or to withdraw consent. Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your email at any time.

To make a request, reach the desk through the contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

07

Contact

Questions about this policy or how your data is handled can go to our desk through the contact page.
