Thunder star Jalen Williams stretchered off with left leg injury

Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams was removed on a stretcher after suffering a left leg injury during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The incident occurred when Williams elevated for a shot near the hoop. He landed awkwardly. His left foot and ankle were trapped underneath him. Trainers assessed the player on the court before placing him on a stretcher and wheeling him off. Williams gave a thumbs-up to the crowd, which was chanting his name, as he left the floor. The specific details of the injury have not yet been disclosed by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Reports indicate a high likelihood that the injury will end his 2026-27 NBA season. However, not all such injuries result in a full season absence. Williams entered this campaign as a key figure for the Thunder. The team remained undefeated after defeating the Clippers. In his fourth season, the former All-Star averaged 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists over 33 games. He missed significant time in the previous postseason due to a right wrist injury and hamstring strains in both legs. The Thunder also lost guard Cason Wallace to a left shoulder injury in the first quarter of the same contest. Alex Caruso and Jared McCain are expected to step into starting roles for Oklahoma City in Williams' absence.
