Leon Slater defeated Nic Nemeth at Bound for Glory in Tampa, Florida, to claim the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) World Championship. At 22 years old, Slater became the youngest wrestler to hold the promotion's top prize. The match marked a historic moment for the 22-year-old, who had previously come close to setting a record as the longest-reigning X Division champion.
The contest featured a back-and-forth sequence of high-impact maneuvers. Slater survived a Skull Crushing Finale and a Rough Ryder from Nemeth. After superkicking Nemeth, Slater attempted his signature Swanton 450, but Nemeth kicked out of the initial pinfall. Slater tried the move again, only for Nemeth to get his knees up and nearly counter-pin him. Nemeth responded with a Danger Zone, attempting to pin Slater without success.
Slater maintained control throughout the final stretch of the match. He chased Nemeth over the turnbuckle and onto the floor before tossing him back into the ring. Nemeth evaded a third Swanton 450 attempt, prompting Slater to execute a splash across the ring. This setup allowed Slater to hit the Swanton 450 cleanly, resulting in the pinfall victory.
The win ended Nemeth's second reign as TNA World Champion, which lasted 105 days. Slater's victory cements his status in TNA history as the youngest holder of the world title. The event took place on Sunday night in Tampa, Florida.
