Retailers and color options
All three retailers are offering the $99 price at the same time. Google sells the Pixel Buds 2a in four colors, including hazel and purple. Google has noted the purple option as a distinction from Apple's entry-level AirPods, which do not include that color.
What the review found
The Verge's David Pierce reviewed the Pixel Buds 2a at their October 2025 release. Pierce cited sound quality, ANC performance and comfort as the main findings, and noted that the lightweight fit helps the earbuds sit unobtrusively during extended wear. The price point factored into the overall assessment, according to the review. The main criticism: certain features are not available when the earbuds are paired with an iPhone or iPad. Pierce compared that to how AirPods do not deliver their full feature set when used with Android phones.
Android focus and Gemini
Gemini integration runs fully when the Pixel Buds 2a are connected to a Pixel or other Android device. That access is reduced on iOS pairings. Google has described the earbuds as a product for Android users.
