Anthropic plans to disclose its third-quarter financial results to institutional investors on Wednesday, marking the first public release of the company's quarterly numbers. The San Francisco-based artificial intelligence firm is preparing for an initial public offering that could become the largest in history. Two people familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity due to the confidential nature of the details, confirmed that the meeting will take place. Bloomberg News was the first to report on the scheduled gathering, while Anthropic declined to provide comment.

The timing of the disclosure coincides with heightened market sensitivity to revenue figures from private artificial intelligence companies. Last week, confusion surrounding a report on OpenAI's revenue and accounting practices contributed to a decline in major semiconductor stocks and the broader Nasdaq index. OpenAI provided current investors with an updated revenue figure of $50 billion as part of an ongoing fundraise. This amount was lower than the $70 billion figure that had been widely reported previously. According to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal information, the updated number excluded revenue from cloud partners and did not indicate a change in demand.

It remains unclear whether Anthropic will account for sales in a similar manner or include partner revenue in its disclosures. The upcoming numbers will provide investors with a clearer view of Anthropic's growth and profitability as they assess the company's value ahead of its listing. The data will also allow Anthropic executives and their bankers to gauge investor interest and evaluate reactions to the updated financials.

Anthropic is proceeding with plans for a listing that could value the company at $2 trillion, based on latest reported revenue numbers that could exceed $100 billion by the end of the year, according to people familiar with the plans. Such a valuation would surpass the historic debut of SpaceX. The company filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission earlier this year but has not made its S-1 financial documents public. Reuters reported that Anthropic intends to list in November, although people familiar with the plans could not confirm a specific date.

If the listing proceeds, it will occur during a period when rising interest rates are affecting parts of the artificial intelligence trade. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan stated at a conference on Monday that with interest rates climbing, access to capital could be the primary constraint for artificial intelligence companies. Chip stocks fell on Tuesday, extending an overnight sell-off driven by concerns regarding the sustainability of financing for artificial intelligence ventures. Market conditions represent a significant factor for Anthropic's upcoming initial public offering, with bankers closely monitoring investor appetite for growth and artificial intelligence stocks.
