Rams receiver Davante Adams out 6-10 weeks with hamstring rupture

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20: Wide receiver Davante Adams will miss six to ten weeks after rupturing his hamstring, head coach Sean McVay announced following the Los Angeles Rams' 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at SoFi Stadium. The injury occurred during the Rams' final drive of the game, when Adams pulled up while running a route near the goal line and hopped out of the end zone. Although Adams was able to leave the field under his own power, post-game testing confirmed the severity of the hamstring rupture. McVay stated the earliest return date for the 33-year-old receiver is sometime in December. If the recovery takes the full ten weeks, Adams would be available only for the remaining two regular-season games. The Rams are expected to place Adams on injured reserve. Adams joined the team this past season and has served as a key target for quarterback Matthew Stafford in the red zone. Through six games, he had accumulated 480 receiving yards and four touchdowns. His absence adds to a growing list of injuries for the Rams. Kicker Blake Grupe is out for the season with a knee injury sustained while attempting a tackle early in Sunday's game. Defensive tackle Poona Ford is also out for the year with a tricep injury, and defensive tackle Kobie Turner is heading to injured reserve with a groin injury. Wide receiver Puka Nacua did not start the season due to his own injury, leaving the Rams reliant on other players such as Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield at receiver. The team enters this stretch of injuries after adding Myles Garrett in a trade and following an MVP season by Stafford, during which discussions characterized the roster as a potential super team.
