Musk says Tesla Optimus robot needs work on AI and hands

Elon Musk stated on Wednesday that Tesla has started early production of its humanoid robot, Optimus, on the high-volume line in Fremont, California. During the company's earnings call, the CEO identified specific areas requiring development before the unit can function as a productive tool. These include the robot's hands, its safety, reliability, and durability, as well as the artificial intelligence required for open-ended tasks. Musk noted that there is still a substantial amount of work to be done in these technical areas. He also predicted that at some point, there will be more humanoid robots on Earth than humans. These comments provide context for a product currently slated for volume production.
