Major US and European stock indices close Thursday session

The S&P 500 finished at 7744.06, up 25.12 points. Its intraday range extended from a high of 7754.15 to a low of 7669.66. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 26692.868, adding 20.158 points, with a high of 26754.015 and a low of 26308.846.
Sector indices showed mixed performance. The Dow Jones 20 Transportation index closed at 20106.68, up 276.72 points, trading between 19811.08 and 20128.57. The Dow Jones 15 Utilities index ended at 1066.5, gaining 1.07 points, with a range from 1060.96 to 1076.33.
The SOX (Philadelphia) index declined to 11684.382, dropping 103.167 points. It traded within a range of 11171.694 to 11620.136.
European markets also reported closing figures. The FT-100 in London closed at 10840.35, up 115.49 points, between a high of 10868.53 and a low of 10833.53. The SMI in Zurich finished at 14129.93, rising 219.58 points, with a range from 14157.48 to 14349.51. The MIB in Milan closed at 49397.55, falling 356.29 points, trading between a high of 49525.47 and a low of 49281.71.
