Hilary Duff shares Mexico trip photos as Ashley Tisdale drama resurfaces

Hilary Duff shared photographs from a recent vacation to Mexico with several friends, an event that prompted renewed online discussion regarding a previous dispute involving Ashley Tisdale. The 39-year-old actress and singer posted images from a stay at the One&Only Mandarina resort on Mexico's Riviera Nayarit coast, where the group engaged in beach outings and spa treatments. Duff captioned the Instagram carousel, "The group chat made it to the jungle," tagging companions who included actress Mandy Moore, celebrity chef Gaby Dalkin, makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher, Whitney Wagner Hartley, Amanda Lillywhite, Janice Gott, and Haylee Christine. The trip occurred shortly after Duff celebrated her 39th birthday on Sept. 28. Comments on the post quickly referenced Tisdale, with one follower noting, "I just know Ashley Tisdale is punching the air right now," while another asked if the event was a "toxic mom trip." Other users urged restraint, describing the speculation as "adult bullying." The remarks refer to a controversy that emerged earlier this year following Tisdale's publication of an essay in The Cut titled "Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group." In that January piece, the former "High School Musical" star described feeling excluded from gatherings with women she had previously considered close friends. Tisdale wrote that she learned of these gatherings through Instagram feeds and stories. She stated that the situation led her to send a message to the group, saying, "This is too high school for me and I don't want to take part in it anymore." Although Tisdale did not identify specific individuals in the essay, social media users speculated that she was referring to Duff, Moore, and other celebrity mothers. A representative for Tisdale denied that the essay concerned Duff, Moore, or Meghan Trainor, according to TMZ. Duff addressed the speculation during an appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast hosted by Alex Cooper. She told Cooper that she felt hurt by the association with the essay. "I felt really sad. I honestly felt really sad," Duff said. She added that it was difficult to read information she believed was untrue, noting the impact on "six women in all of their lives." Duff also stated that she felt used during a period when her career was experiencing a resurgence.
