The S&P 500 ended the day at 7,807.24. It fell 4.30 points. The index spanned from a low of 7,796.94 to a high of 7,821.67.

The Nasdaq Composite dropped 120.268 points to finish at 27,366.17. It hit a high of 27,376.66 and a low of 27,219.42.

The SOX Philadelphia Semiconductor Index declined 335.632 points to close at 12,572.42. It traded between a high of 12,376.711 and a low of 12,216.447.

The Dow Jones 15 Utilities index rose 3.70 points to close at 1,059.66. The sector moved between a high of 1,061.23 and a low of 1,051.37.

The Dow Jones 20 Transportation index lost 45.06 points to end at 19,759.08. Its range was defined by a high of 19,848.24 and a low of 19,721.93.

European benchmarks showed mixed results at the close on Monday.

The FT-100 in London gained 214.68 points to reach 10,656.28. The index closed at its high of the day, with a low of 10,596.93.

The MIB index in Milan advanced 288.69 points to close at 50,035. It traded between a high of 50,280.15 and a low of 49,908.25.

The SMI index in Zurich rose 90.44 points to finish at 13,787.4. The session range extended from a low of 13,817.23 to a high of 13,895.9.
