The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 in a Monday Night Football contest, improving their record to 3-4 while the Eagles fell to 2-5. The victory marked a turning point for Dallas, which entered the Week 7 matchup with a 2-4 record, allowing the team to close the gap in the NFC East division race.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer avoided a third consecutive loss in prime time, a result that had intensified scrutiny regarding his coaching methods. The Cowboys had lost back-to-back games in prime time prior to this contest, prompting discussions about the stability of the coaching staff despite the team's talent. Conversely, Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni faced criticism from fans regarding the start of the 2026 campaign, though the Eagles were dealing with significant injury absences. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season with blood clots, and running back Saquon Barkley has struggled with health issues throughout the year.

The Cowboys' offense relied heavily on the run game to generate points. Running back Javonte Williams rushed for 155 yards on 25 carries and scored a touchdown, including a 34-yard run through the line. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb caught two of his five targets for touchdowns and finished with 74 yards. Ryan Flournoy added 70 yards on four receptions. Quarterback Dak Prescott completed passes for Lamb and contributed to the offensive output, helping the team maintain its offensive identity.

The Eagles' defense initially looked vulnerable against the Cowboys' attack. On their first drive, Philadelphia scored a touchdown on a four-play sequence that included a 29-yard run by Barkley. Barkley attempted to return to form after a hamstring injury but appeared to manage a back injury during the game, receiving treatment on the sideline. Despite these efforts, the Eagles' offense found additional scoring opportunities later in the game. Dameon Pierce scored a touchdown for Philadelphia, and rookie Makai Lemon secured his first career touchdown to give the Eagles a 21-20 lead in the third quarter.

Dallas responded to take control of the final score. Prescott threw a touchdown pass to Lamb, his second of the game, to tie or take the lead before the Cowboys pulled away. The defense forced a punt and recorded an interception by DeMarvion Overshown on a pass intended for Dallas Goedert in the fourth quarter. The final score of 38-21 reflected the Cowboys' ability to sustain drives and capitalize on opportunities.

The result leaves the Cowboys one and a half games behind the New York Giants for the NFC East lead. The Giants defeated Dallas in Week 1 of the season. The Cowboys face winnable games against the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts next, providing an opportunity to start a winning streak and stabilize their position in the division standings.
