Bunnie XO Breaks Silence on Jelly Roll Divorce, Denies Infidelity and Chad Kroeger Rumors

Podcaster Bunnie XO, whose legal name is Alisa DeFord, addressed the end of her marriage to country music star Jelly Roll on her podcast "Dumb Blonde," saying she was the one who told him to file divorce papers during a Mother's Day argument — but insists she was speaking out of anger, not intent. The 46-year-old said no infidelity occurred on either side, pushing back on widely circulated social media speculation that she had left the singer for Nickelback founding member Chad Kroeger.

What Started the Divorce Filing

Bunnie XO said a fight on Mother's Day prompted her to tell Jelly Roll to file the divorce papers, after which she packed a bag and did not speak to him for weeks. She said she was not prepared for him to act on her words. "I was speaking out of anger and just frustration," she said, adding that she viewed the moment as a necessary wake-up call for the couple rather than a definitive end. Jelly Roll filed the paperwork on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee, listing the date of separation as May 9, according to court records reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Communication Breakdown, Not Betrayal

Bunnie XO said the marriage deteriorated over roughly the past year and a half due to a breakdown in communication rather than any outside party. She described herself as the consistent pursuer in the relationship, and said she eventually stopped chasing when she felt Jelly Roll was no longer reciprocating. She said she still considers him her best friend and had hoped they could work through their issues in couples therapy, but said he did not feel the same way and she respects that decision. Following news of the divorce, Bunnie XO said she began hormone replacement therapy and individual therapy.

IVF Losses and Plans to Co-Parent

The two had been undergoing IVF treatment for approximately two years, with three embryo transfers and four lost embryos, a process Bunnie XO said placed significant strain on the relationship. She said they still plan to have a child together despite the divorce. The couple married in August 2016 in Las Vegas after meeting the year prior. Bunnie XO became stepmother to Jelly Roll's daughter Bailee and son Noah.

Nickelback Theory Disputed

Bunnie XO directly addressed the social media theory that she had left Jelly Roll for Chad Kroeger after posting several videos featuring Nickelback songs. She said the posts were coincidental — Nickelback is among her favorite bands and one of the songs was trending on TikTok at the time — and flatly denied any romantic involvement with Kroeger. She said Jelly Roll has begun dating and expressed support for him doing so. Bunnie XO described herself as currently single.
