Warsh speech at Jackson Hole lifts rate-hike odds, analysts flag Fed-Treasury tension

8/31/2026

Fed Chair Kevin Warsh delivered a hawkish address at Jackson Hole, reinforcing analyst expectations of a relatively tighter Federal Reserve stance ahead of the September Federal Open Market Committee meeting, according to an analyst roundup.

Analysts read Warsh's tone as consistent with a bias toward additional tightening at the Fed. September's FOMC meeting is now the session markets are pricing most actively.

The roundup also flagged a potential conflict between the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department. Warsh's hawkish posture, analysts said, may place the two institutions at odds.
