The FDA has recorded 345 salmonella cases, including 36 hospitalizations, tied to jalapeƱos distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors, triggering a Taylor Farms recall of finished food products at Kroger, Target, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods.
A separate cyclospora investigation has linked more than 6,300 cases to Taylor Farms iceberg lettuce supplied to Taco Bell.
Two outbreaks, one supplier Taylor Farms said as of Sunday it was not aware of any reported illnesses linked directly to its products in the salmonella probe and has stopped sourcing from Coast Citrus Distributors while seeking alternative suppliers.
The voluntary recall, the company said, moved "more broadly than required." Taylor Farms supplies produce and finished food products to Walmart, Target, Chipotle, Taco Bell, and other major retailers and restaurant chains across North America.
