The European Union placed HTX, a cryptocurrency exchange already under United Kingdom sanctions, on a new list of 18 entities cited for offering crypto-asset or payment services in defiance of EU restrictions on Russia.
The EU designation EU authorities identified all 18 organizations on the list as entities providing "crypto-assets services or payment services" in violation of the bloc's existing Russia-related measures, the release shows.
The UK had sanctioned HTX before the EU acted. Dual-jurisdiction exposure HTX now carries sanctions from two Western authorities.
The EU list covers organizations across the crypto-asset and payment services sectors, placing the exchange alongside 17 other entities the bloc says have operated in defiance of its Russia restrictions.
