Armenian government resigns after parliament's first session, Pashinyan cabinet to remain in caretaker capacity

Armenia's government resigned Sunday in Yerevan after the country's newly elected parliament held its first session, a step taken in accordance with constitutional requirements.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the outgoing cabinet will remain in a caretaker capacity until a new government is formed.

Constitutional requirement drives the resignation The timing of the resignation was not discretionary.
